Thank you to all those who attended, presented and sponsored the CILTNZ 2012 International Conference.

From the feedback we have received, the programme was a great success. The very high caliber of all the speakers was also highlighted by many. Without doubt, this was the major contributor to the successful outcome.

The CILTNZ 2012 International Conference will be extensively featured in the June edition of the Institute’s quarterly journal, Logistics and Transport NZ (Volume 10 Issue 4 – due out early June). For a complimentary copy, email contact details to the editor: lrichardson@astonpublishing.co.nz

The world seems increasingly prone to natural disasters with Oceania and the entire Pacific region no exception. Transport and Logistics increasingly are vital to the very functioning of modern societies. Therefore it is critical to ensure and maintain this capability to be resilient in the face of significantly disruptive natural disaster events.

Any successful recovery from such traumatic events relies upon transport and logistics operations that can operate smoothly and adjust quickly to the unexpected.

Learn from the experiences of those experts who have recently been involved in response to two significant natural disasters to hit our region recently; the Queensland floods and the Christchurch earthquakes. This unique conference will examine the logistics of natural disaster recovery from many perspectives.

Experts in relevant fields of science, engineering and risk management together with a multi-modal line up of transport and logistics professionals and leaders able to provide first-hand accounts of the actual events, are included in the programme.

What worked, what didn't and the lessons for the future will be elicited, making attendance essential for all leading transport, logistics and planning professionals and government agencies likely to be in positions of influence when inevitable sequels occur.

The conference format combines two days of intense interaction in Wellington with a third, more practically focused day in Christchurch, which includes an extensive guided study tour of Christchurch City Centre and environs
